I had a very special interaction with Ed. He operated on me when I was wounded at Khe Sanh on March 8, 1968. I believe I was his first and only female patient at Charley Med. He saved many lives and I honor him as a real hero. I feel privileged that I maintained a friendship with Ed for many years. We would call each other on March 8 and marvel that we were alive and well and enjoying life. And I was thrilled to visit him once in California and meet his very special wife, Patti He had a real sweetness and gentleness about him. Courtesy and courage.
