My Father's Story

Although he was born in New Jersey, Max Grossbard grew up in the Bronx.  As a young boy Max was fascinated by aviation and became a member of the Civil Air Patrol.  During World War II he served as a sergeant in the Army Air Forces.  Following his wartime service he returned to New York and married his high school sweetheart Beatrice Giniger.  In the early 1950s daughter Ellen and son Fred were added to the family.
Max's career as a broadcast engineer began with the Dumont Network in New York City.  After the Dumont Network ceased operations Max and his family moved to California in 1955 where he was hired by NBC.  Max spent 30 years working for NBC and RCA, its parent company, designing and maintaining broadcast studios.
Max and Beatrice retired to Ocean Hills in Oceanside, California in 1989 and were able to travel extensively throughout their retirement.  In 1993 their granddaughter Jacqueline was born.
In the decade following Beatrice's 2006 death Max remained active and independent, fully engaged by world, national and local events.  He will be missed and remembered.
