Home of Peace Cemetery is run by a board of community members. AM Israel volunteers to take care of the daily operation.
It was founded in 1878. At this time, it was just considered the Jewish section of what was a bigger cemetery known as Mt. Hope Cemetery. In 1910, Home of Peace became its own cemetery. In 1939 people from the Old Jewish Cemetery which was in Roseville/Point Loma area of San Diego were moved to the Home of Peace Cemetery because the land of the Old Jewish Cemetery was repurposed.
Under Jewish tradition, it is fairly important for a Jewish person to be buried in a Jewish Cemetery. Many of the services we do involve burial at the Home of Peace Cemetery.
