Memories of Sheila

“One of my first memories as a child was of playing with my DeWoskin cousins when we lived together and then next door during and shortly after the War.  I do remember and have driven by the tiny two bedroom house in which eight of us lived while uncle Al was in the navy.  The house was occupied by my folks, myself, Sylvia and her three daughters, plus Baba Katz.  I was a little older when the DeWoskins bought the home immediately next door, and by then I could fight with my older cousins as to who was allowed to step on the other’s property.  The arguments were more with Barbara the oldest, who could always sit on me and hold me down to win the arguments if I objected too much.   My memory of Shelia is that she was the peaceful one with whom I got along better.  Over the years I kept much of that closeness with Shelia and we always had a comfortable feeling with each other that I think grew out of the time we spent together as small children.  I have been saddened ever since I received the call from Shelia years ago telling us that she had been diagnosed with Alzheimers.  I will miss Shelia very much.”
