A life well lived

Erna, born in Frankfurt Germany moved to NYC with her family at age 13. They lived in Manhattan where she met Eddie Frank prior to his becoming part of the WW2 American army. They married in NYC then moved to Marathon NY where Eddie and his brother started a dairy business. It was a challenge for the city girl to not only be on a rural Upstate NY farm but also have her In-laws living with them. She was always a very strong willed lady who did what was necessary to accept the situation to include going to work in billing at the closest hospital about 20miles from the farm. In 1982 Erna and Eddy retired and moved to San Diego and began to live life being able to really enjoy them selves also being close to their daughter Karen who moved to San Diego in 1975. They continued involvement with the Eastern Stars and Masonic lodge, took a number of overseas trips, loved their La Mesa home and generally enjoyed each others company. Unfortunately after 10 years Eddie passed on in 1992. Fortunately Erna had numerous friends and continued to live a full life. At her 80th birthday party she had invited her Jewish friends, Swim team, card friends and a number of others. As time moved on more ladies outlived their husbands and Erna often became the designated driver. She loved to attend soccer games and go to the casino with Karen and Jim. Some 5years age Ernas aortic valve required replacement to aid her quality of life which didnt work successfully so she continued to have issues with breathing enough that she moved to Paradise Village and stopped driving. She made numerous new friends during the past 5 years and thanks to all who impacted her life in a positive manner. Erna has 3 grandchildren Will, Jennnfer, and Erica and well as 4 great grandchildren. Her twin great grandchildren were born 75 years after Erna, she was able to fly to Chicago to see Grand Daughter Jennifer get married, and over the past year her entire family visited her either once or twice to include her newest Great Grand child Taylor. She remained her own person to the end willing to pass with incredible dignity. Larry Frank
