Lt. Cmdr. Robert David Smith, U.S. Navy Retired, served his country proudly; he also contributed to his community as a high school and middle school teacher of such diverse subjects as history, English, and mathematics, but most of all he loved his family fiercely. He enjoyed reading, especially mysteries, and was always interested in sports. Bob was born in Manhattan and raised on Long Island. Although he moved to California many years ago, he remained a devoted fan of the N.Y. Yankees and the N.Y. Giants. He leaves behind his wife Edith, his two beautiful daughters Rachel and Sarah, and his devoted sister Hilary.
